Default Need some advice on what to do.

After owning my 2000 volvo s70 glt se for a little over a month now i've ran into a lot of problems, ac compressor seized up and broke the belt, car burning oil, gas mileage changing randomly and not today when I was driving to school my compressor seized up but my belt didn't break, after this happened just about every light popped up on my dash and now i'm starting to wonder if there's something else wrong with my car. I'm going to scan it later today with an OBD port scanner and see if it can read any new codes but at this point i'm stuck at school because my car won't turn over and i'm pretty upset because I can't have my car running for more than a week without it breaking down on me. Any advice on what to do as i'm pretty broke and nobly have money for parts but refuse to bring it to the shop as I have the tools to fix almost everything myself. I do not want to get rid of this car as it's one of the only things that's brings me joy (atleast for a week until it breaks) and I do enjoy fixing it up i'm just pretty frustrated at the moment. I live around 5 minutes uphill from where my cars parked, would it be fine if I released the tensioner pulley got the belt off and drove it back to my house without power steering?

Not sure I follow the AC compressor saga. Are you saying it froze up and broke the serpentine belt so you put a new belt on and that broke as well? Did you not replace the compressor?? Did you not turn off the AC? Assuming no, does the clutch spin freely? If so you may be able to disable the AC clutch until you get a new compressor installed. If the compressor clutch doesnt turn freely you need to replace the compressor - otherwise you will keep breaking belts and risk damaging other parts of the engine (on occasion failed serpentine belts have been known to whip around and take out the timing belt). As to wandering gas mileage - that can be one of several things such as a fuel delivery/fuel pressure issue, intake air leaks (tubing, vacuum lines etc) dirty MAF etc. The OBD2 scan should provide some clues. If the car is burning oil, check to see if the PCV system is allowing oil to get into the intake. Otherwise if its a piston ring issue, not much you can do other than trying some treatments like Seafoam etc that suggest they can help stuck oil rings (just don't hold any expectations that this will help). If you are going to try to drive the 5 or so miles home, best to fully charge the battery by using a charger or give it at least 15 minutes on jumper cables. Your alternator will be off line with no belt so you may get a bunch of CEL codes due to low system voltage and may actually go into limp mode but it should be able to get home.
