Default Serpentine belt broke, Ac compressor out

(For context I own a 2000 s70 glt se)
Recently after taking my car on the longest drive i've taken it on since buying it my Ac compressor went out and caused my belt to burn up and snap, any advice on where to get the replacement parts. I'm broke right now and don't have the money to get my Ac professionally recharged as of right now and will be replacing everything myself. Is there a way for my to recharge the Ac myself with it still making a difference to bringing it to a shop and saving money.

Well, at the very least you are looking at a new A/C compressor and a new belt. I would strongly consider replacing the belt tensioner and pulley as well. If it got hot enough to snap the belt it definitely did not do the tensioner and pulley any favors. As far as recharging your system yourself.......never done it and from what I have heard it is best left to someone with the proper equipment.

Sounds like your compressor seized. A "recharge" is not going to help. A replacement compressor will.

There is a part number for an idler pulley used on cars that don't have ac installed. That way a replacement compressor won't be needed - just a pulley and a shorter belt.

I'll try to find the part number -

Don't recharge it - not relevant. Look to see if the pully bearing is good. If the compressor pulley spins freely, you need to unplug the compressor clutch and put a belt back on.

Here's what you need to convert it cheaply - don't know where you will find a 1270598 and a pulley
