1995 850 sedan air compressor belt
Hi and sorry for stupid question but please, a response would be wonderful.
My air compressor went bad (rest of system good) so the Volvo techs did a quick disconnect of the compressor but I'm left with a bad belt for the 10 days until they can fix it all. I'm wondering is if there is anything I can do to make sure this belt doesn't fail before 10 days, allowing me to use it? Would belt goo help? Is the AC pulley thing causing it to run unevenly so would a bit of lubricant help on the pin?
Liquids and goo are my level of car repair! I do not work on my car, I have the zen Volvo boys in Ithaca do that. However, they are too busy to see me before 10 days. But 10 days is too long not to use my car. Country is fine until you got no wheels. And I have not the tools, inclination or strength to put the smaller bypass belt I saw on utube.
When it first went bad, I felt the engine almost stall and was warned this belt may fail at any time and engine will be stalled until repaired.
It drove fine the hour to and from the Vo boys plus driving to and from 2 parks in the vicinity to play and swim my dog.
But I don't know if failure is apt to happen when starting or driving and if driving slow is better then fast. Or if there is just no dif! If it fails it fails!
Again, any opinion or advice would be great.
