I didn't know that there were going to be special tools needed when I started this job. It's a 99 S70 with 160k miles. I ordered a head seal and gasket kit. I was going to do the valve seals but now it looks like I need a volvo tool to remove the valves.

I tried to rent a valve spring compressor from advance auto parts but it doesn't work. It only compresses the rocker style springs, I need something that will go down in the hole.

Also, I heard I only need the rear locking cam lock to align these cams. Is there anything else I can use to get around using these tools?

It also has the VVT and I have removed the gears from the cams. Thanks for any suggestions.
