New Owner w/ questions
Just purchased a 1998 S70 T5. Manual transmission. Has 86,000 miles on it. Not sure what maintenance has been done. Can you tell me any specific things I need to look at once I take delivery of the vehicle. I owned a Lexus SC300 before and know that the dealer will tell you that you need everything done, even if it is not really needed. So I'm asking you guys that will most likely be honest since you are not calculating how big of a bill you can get me to pay. Timing belt, turbo, etc? I know it needs tires, but that's pretty obvious. Thanks. One otehr thing, is there anything particular to this car that I need to look out for. For instance, in my Lexus there was a small plastic piece inside the door that would break. When this happened you couldnt open the door from the outside. Dealer wanted over $100 to fix. Went to the Lexus forum, got the info I needed and bought the piece from Toyota for $1 and fixed myself.
I appreciate all of your help.

Sounds like a nice car. At 86,000 make sure the timing belt has been changed. It is scheduled at 70K on that car. If at all possible try to get the maint history on the car.
Can I get a vehicle maintenance histroy at a Volvo dealership on this car? Also, about how much to change a timing belt on a Volvo? Would you go to a import place for less cost on this type of a project to save alittle? Aprreciate it.
Around $300 at the independent Volvo mechanic I take mine to. I have done it myself and I don't $300 is a bad price for what is involved. Make sure you take it to a reputable place where the work on European, preferably Volvo, cars.
