Default New Member & New Owner of a C30 with questions

Hey everyone! My name is Eric, I live in Austin TX, I recently purchased a used 2009 C30 R-Design with only 45k miles. This is my 2nd Volvo, I had a 2007 S60 T5, loved the car but apparently the person I bought it from wrecked it, blah blah blah, it had issues. So far I am loving my C30, but I have run into some small issues from the last owner, they seem to be easy fixes but I wanted some input before I try to head into them on my own.


1st, the driver side windshield sprayer's "T" Valve's back is blown out. Now I do know they spray, as they some how have worked before, even missing. Is this part difficult to change? I know it seems fairly simple and straight forward, but I have ran into a similar issue on a Ford Taurus which lead me to have to replace ALL the tubing because they where all glued together. Can I just replace the 3-way or will it require replacing all the tubing that goes with it?


2nd, I was told the back brakes are fading and that I should replace the rotors as well. I was thinking of going with some EBC Drilled and slotted rotors along with their Yellow Stuff brake pads, I was wondering if anyone has used any of their products or has a good recommendation on some decently priced drilled and slotted rotors. Along with, are their and special tools needed to do the brakes and rotors other then normal brake job tools?

On 1), it's an $8.00 part from Tascaparts.com. A regular vacuum tee will work, but it won't have the cute little anti-drainback valve that blew out on yours. It's a pull-off-push-on job. You do have to open the hood.

On 2), - a caveat: I am NOT a hot rodder. My take, however is that you're welcome to spend your money however you like, but unless you are racing, the $$$ spent on groovey (literally, sometimes!) brakes are for looks not transportation.

A last over-all bit of advice: chase down ALL those ****ling little exceptions (like the windshield washer). Once fixed, they are the things that will add together to keep you happy with the car.
