Hey all,

I'm new to the forum and just picked up a low mileage (96,000) 1999 S70 AWD - it's a good looking car.

both of my folks drive volves (a 960 and S70 t5) and they have proven to be EXTREMELY reliable cars and nice. So when I came across this 1999 S70 for $3500 I picked it up in a flash. I want to keep this car running good and strong for many many years to come.

so, my questions surround maintenance and the schedule of maintenance items on the S70. I didn't get an owners manual with the car so...

1) Maintenance Schedule - Is there somewhere online (or on this forum) where the schedule of items to be maintained can be found? Things like oil, coolant, brake flush, etc.? I know to change the oil every so often (I like 5k any synthetic) but what else needs to be done regularly?

2) What big or common issues are there I should be looking out for? The previous owner just recently spent big money replacing some electrical box in the transmission...

3) There is a knocking noise coming from the front drivers side wheel - i'm assuming it needs new sturts - any suggetions?

Whatever else you do, replace the timing belt.

 

Second the timing belt suggestion. I had my timing belt changed at 136k, and it broke at 210k. My mechanic said it should have lasted 120k, but that "you never know."

Save yourself the trouble, headache, car rentals, etc, and change the timing belt!
