Hey all. Cruising down the highway I have been wondering what the absolute most efficient rpm for a nonturbo automatic trans speed would be?
Currently at 3000rpm it goes about 76-78mph.
I’ve looked for charts but can’t find any.
Does anyone know the best, for the engine and fuel efficiency, rpm for this old I5?
I know rpm will vary on hills but wondering about flat highway cruising.

The best time to shift gears is when your right foot is touching the firewall and the rpm needle is sword fighting in the hotzone.
