Default p0243 wastegate solenoid ??

I just bought a used 1998 Volvo S70 last wk. The check engine light came on 1 wk after purchasing it.

OBD code reads: P0243 Wastegate solenoid malfunction.

It seems to be running fine. We reset it and the check engine light has not come on again.

What does this mean? Should I take it back to the used car dealer I bought it from?

Another mechanic at the car part store told me it could mean a cracked intercooler. Is this true?

Or is it ok to drive it until engine light comes on?
If I have an exteneded warranty for 1 yr, would this repair be covered?

Thanks!

The valve for the electronic turbo control might be going bad.
