My 99 S70 (non-turbo) idles very low and occationally dies. My gas mileage has fallen off and the OBD-II gives me an error of "IDLE CONTROL SYSTEM RPM LOWER THAN EXPECTED". I tried to find an Idle Air Valve but the Volvo dealer could not find a number. Do I need a Mass Air Flow Sensor or is this the same thing? Any help?

I don't manage Vadis very well, and I have a 98 and I believe a 99 may have a ETM. But the system regardless has to have an idle air control solenoid right off the throtte body I think. Tech will chime in if I am wrong. Something has to regulate the air going into the throttle body at idle. You may want to clean your throttle body well too.

Dealer parts guy should be able in a split second to identify this for you graphically.

You need a new or rebuilt or cleaned IAC as I call them. I should run good once you have control of the air from the foot pedal.
