Popping sound while turning sharply
Hello, I am having a little bit of an issue, for a few months now, i have having a loud popping sound, and feeling it too while i turn sharply in 99 s70 AWD. At first, i though that perhaps the rear differential was locked up, and the rear wheels were not turning at different speeds while turning. However, when i had a friend stand outside the vehicle while i turned, there was no "hopping" of the rear wheels like i would have expected, and also the sound is coming form the front of the vehicle. Sorry for the somewhat cryptic explanation. Could this be my CV joints? It occurs when i turn either way.

What speed do you hear the sound? If you hear it at low speeds you might want to change out the sway bar links. It's the cheapest part of the suspension. Next replace the spring seats (top of the front struts). If you hear the sound at faster speeds when you turn and accelerate than it could be the outer CV joints. Check the rubber boots on the lower ball joint - control arms. You might have a ball joint that is failing.

Hi, did you happen to get to the root of the popping sound? I have the exact same problem with my '99 Volvo. Mine was brought upon extensive damage to the underside of my car (someone nicely place several very large rocks in the middle of a dark, narrow road). Mechanics replaced ball joints, and the problem still exists.
