As I was driving my '99 S70, the power steering quit and, at the same time, the generator warning light came on. The next time I drove the car, the ABS and anti-skid indicator lights were also on. I assume there is some kind of electrical problem and am wondering if that could be what is causing the power steering to go out. We just had the power steering fixed (loose hose).

If anyone has any thoughts, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

 

Did you happen to run through a water puddle just before it happened?

 

No. The pavement was dry.

 

Maybe the alternator is going bad.

 

Would the alternator affect the power steering?

 

Maybe if the pulley was locking up.
