Good evening Team,

I felt heat coming from the battery area. I found heat coming from the positive battery cable. Has anyone seen anything like this? Why is the cable hot?
See thermal images below.
Battery both Battery leads

Battery lead after driving 5 minutes

Car parked all accessories on engine idling and parked

Voltage at battery looks good and responding as expected. Battery is 3 months old

Any ideas? I'm driving around with a fire extinguisher

You need a 9456836. I've sold and replaced over 100 of them. A bad connection develops between the cable and the cable end. (creating the heat) You can rig a new cable end on or replace the entire cable. Eventually if will cause starting and charging problems. (and burn your finger when you touch it)

The group of 4 wires attached to the positive terminal - check where they terminate - that's under the 13mm nut in the main fuse box under the hood. Undo the nut and pull the wire up - check for melting there also. Those wires power the car and will make the fuel injection system do funny stuff with a voltage drop there.

Good morning,
I will probably replace the cable end with a run of the mill battery connection.
Thanks for the heads up
