Default Question about upgrades

I have a 2000 s70 glt se and, without sending my ecu out to get flashed, what is the easiest upgrade I can do to my car to make the performance slightly better. I have no clue how to do any of the work so the easier the better. If this is in the wrong section I apologize, i figured since its for an s70 it would be fine.

Thanks

You posted in the right place.

1. You need to SEARCH. You wont learn anything unless you search and learn from searching.

2. Does the 2000 s70 glt have a turbo? If it does I know it is the LPT (Low Pressure Turbo) model.

3. What is your budget like?

4. What do you want to achieve? 200Hp/250Hp/300Hp/350+Hp

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. If you are indeed turboed. You can go to a local muffler shop who can "MANDREL BEND". Have them make you a 3" downpipe to a 2.5" free flowing catback system with a free flowing muffler like Magnaflow.

2. You could install a new paper air filter, K&N panel filter, or a EST intake system (Wont gain you much performance will be sucking in a lot of hot air). The stock air box is the best setup. There is a section on here for intakes, I posted a thread about a DIY intake made by SLATER over on VS. Take a look at it.

3. You could have a custom FMIC made and installed.

4. To be honest with you, you would want an ECU upgrade if you got a 3" downpipe to 2.5" catback system because your car wont take full advantage of these upgrades without an ECU upgrade.

-Where are you located at?
-ECU Upgrade Companies (SpeedTuning USA, Upsolute, EST, IPD, RICA, BSR)

Not to mention you need to get a BOOST/VACCUM gauge if your turboed. That is a vital step, and get your gauge from http://www.egauges.com and get your gauge pod from http://www.gaugepods.com

Also get TURBO HOSES if your turboed, http://www.stylinmotors.com

Whatever you do, DO NOT. I REPEAT DO NOT GET A MBC (Manual Boost Controller).

ME7 Volvo's do not like them. They do not work.

Default RE: Question about upgrades

I have a few thousand to spend. Realistically I would like about 250hp. Do you think it would be better to buy a cat back exhaust from ipd over custom making one? I was told that putting a 16t in the car and then flashing the ecu by rica would be a good idea. Would I need to do any other mods if I put the new turbo in? Maybe a catback?

Ok this is what you want to do, more like need to do.

1. Have a local shop make your a 3" mandrel bent downpipe and a 3" mandrel bent catback system with free flowing muffler like Magnaflow. I wouldn't go with a IPD or EST catback system mainly because a local shop can make you one just as good for less, way less. I was quoted a while back $800 for a 3" downpipe and 2.5" catback system.

2. 16T upgrade, make sure it has the same flange as your current turbo does, or else your going to have to have a different downpipe made to make it work.

3. Put a stock paper panel air filter in or a K&N panel filter.

4. Get SAMCO turbo hoses or Stylin Motors turbo hoses, and be sure to get a BOOST/VACCUM gauge and a pod, also silicone vaccum lines from Stylin Motors.

5. Get your ECU tuned by RICA, you will have to send out for it but so what.

http://www.vivaperformance.com (They sell SAMCO turbo hoses, and also 16T turbos)
http://www.stylinmotors.com (They sell turbo hoses and vaccum lines kits for Volvo's)
http://www.egauges.com (They sell gauges, get an Autometer)
http://www.gaugepods.com (They sell gauge pods, do not buy one from IPD)

Default RE: Question about upgrades

Like I said if your putting a new bigger turbo in, your going to want a 3" downpipe nonetheless to take advantage even of your stock turbo and more so with the 16T turbo. Your also going to want it to breath better on the way out so if your going with a 16T then get a 3" catback system as well, if you were sticking with the stock turbo go with a 2.5" catback system, but keep the 3" downpipe.

Your going to want to upgrade the turbo hoses like I stated above and also your vaccum line as stated above. To monitor your boost get a boost/vaccum gauge and a pod to put it in.

Try Erie Volvo.

And post in the wanted section on here and over on Volvospeed for a 16T turbo.

And anything over $300 for a 16T is a rip off.
