Hi all. I had a prior issue where the car would start but not stay running. After research I decided to change the MAF & the fuel pump. That seemed to fix the issue but after two weeks same thing happened again. I notice that when I really try to accelerate hard the engine sorta cuts off like there's a fuel flow issue. I did purchase after market parts. I'm thinking this could be the issue 🤷‍♂️. Any thoughts on this guy's? When she's running she's running great. Volvo S70 GLT 1998

Well, it does sound kinda fuel-pressure-y. You could try a filter, I don't think that's ever the wrong thing to shoot out of a parts cannon on a 25 year old car. I much prefer direct measurements, but it's hard in this case. The car needs to be under load, so ideally you'd need a fuel pressure gauge that you can read while driving. You can use a scan tool to see what your O2 sensor is thinking. You can watch MAF air flow in real time. In the driveway, you can take over the fuel pressure regulator and manipulate fuel pressure manually. That might be a good idea.

I have a higher pressure turbo, but I have had significant problems with air leaking out under boost as various rubber components downstream of the turbo get old and break. In that case you'd go rich, and on my car you might hear it. I run a boost gauge and that also helps.

So - what's the fuel pressure when it cuts out?

Have you inspected the fuel pump relay for cracked solder joints (a common failure) You will need a magnifying glass and know where to look to find the cracks.

Default Car stalls

Thanks guy's. So I'll check the filter & the relay as advised. Haven't used a fuel pressure gauge before but I guess I could try that

So, I changed the fuel pump relay and MAF sensor (All OEM) and the fuel pump again. Cars running good now. I think these cars are "turbo sensitive". By this I mean you really have to let the car warm up properly before revving at high speed but when she's warmed up runs fantastic. I just got a second one (year 2000 non turbo). Significantly slower but still adequate. Couldn't pass it up for $1300😊
