Need some advice.... the shift boot on one of my T5s needs replacement. I called the local Volvo stealer parts department and was told that according to the parts catalog info the shift **** needs to be replaced along with the boot. Their price for both is $175!!!! Has anyone ever done this? If so did you really have to replace the shift **** (there's nothing wrong with the one I have)? I was thinking about going aftermarket to get around this problem but Frank at EST says their short shift kit for the S70 has been discontinued.

 

I replaced mine and you do NOT need a ****, just the boot

 

Jim, I know you had a short shift kit and new boot installed on the 99 T5 I bought from you but have you replaced the stock boot yourself (or had someone do it for you)??

 

I had to have it replaced in the 98, they charged me40 bucks (orabout30minutes) and no new shift **** was needed.
Remove the console cover,snap inand reinstall console.
I actually was there at that time and that's all it was
