Reverse lights not working

Reverse lights not working
Hi everyone,
Picked up an S70 SE (1997) today, and after doing the initial checks everything was fine. Got home and the Mrs tells me that the reverse lights weren't working when I backed into the garage. They were when I picked it up however. Checked the bulbs, they are fine, so what's happening now? I bought the car sold as seen so can't take it back, and seeing as I live in England, cars here really do not hold their price well, I got this for $600. Couple of minor dents and that's it. Can anyone enlighten me and maybe guide me in the right direction please. This is a manual gearbox too, just in case that helps.
