2000 S70 Known Issues
I have a 1998 S70 that I absolutely love. I've had no major problems with the car except for the ABS module, which was easily remedied. A friend of mine is interested in purchasing an S70 (since I've enjoyed mine so much) and found a 2000 with relatively low miles for sale. However, when she did some research she discovered that Consumer Reports rated the 1999 and 2000 S70 as a poor choice.
Having had no complaints with my S70, I was rather surprised to see such a poor rating from Consumer Reports, but I've learned over the years that a lot of issues Consumer Reports uncovers are not what I would consider "deal breakers." I've seen a lot of complaints about light bulbs burning out and inferior cup holders on S70s. Not what I would consider major issues.
Anyway, I do remember reading some threads a while back about the 1999+ S70 having some issue with the electronic ignition system, but it wasn't an issue with my model so I didn't pay much attention. Are there other known issues I should warn her about with the later models of the S70?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Jay

I have a '98 S70 GLT myself, but I've heard that the 99-00 S70's lost the drive-by-wire throttle and gained the Electronically Controlled Throttle or Module...er...something that's electric that controls the throttle and replaced drive-by-wire...often becomes faulty and costs $1000+ to replace.
