Default Are the S70 and 850 compatible?

I have an S70 and the opportunity to pick up parts of an 850... I am wondering if the ABS module is compatible?

I don't think it is compatible because I have a 1999 S70, and I was told that even a 1998 S70 module would not work for my car. If you have any type of traction control, you'd have to get a module that was made for that model and year and that supported the TRACS option.

You can check the number on the ABS module on your car and compare it with the number on the 850 and that will answer your question for sure.

I was under the impression that the 98 s70 is compatible with the 850's. After 98 volvo changed the s70 and this is why you can not use anything from 98 and above. I am not sure if the braking system is the same though.

Ebay or go to local junkyard and see if they have any s70s there.

sorry bro but whatever you do dont take it to/through the dealer they will rob you for the part and labour.

and it's risky whenever you pick another module from another car. doesn't always match your system, make sure as stated up there that the part number is the same, also check the TRACS/ABS on the module. Try to stick to the same year as yours.

good luck

Used ABS modules= false economy. There's 3 types of ABS modules found on these cars: Ones that are about to fail, ones that have failed, and ones that have been properly rebuilt so they don't fail again! There's lots of companies that will rebuild them for you- I often use BBA- Reman (bbareman.com) or there's also Vic Rocha (do a forum search for his name) who rebuilds them too. You can get yours redone for less than $100 these days, and BBA provides a lifetime warranty.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will look into it. The dealer quoted $900, which I refuse to pay... I saw a DIY video on youtube where a guy changed one out in 10mins.
This is why I refuse.

Yes. $900 is insane- especially for the same, flawed part. Go with a rebuild, or if you're handy with a soldering iron, fix it yourself.

There is a chap on EBAY that sells repaired modules for $69.95 shipped. His stuff is clean, and works great. He is out of Tecumseh, Michigan. He likes the core back WHEN you are done, and he charges no core charge. He is on the honor system with the cores. Very nice guy, and very good with what he does.
