Default S70 GLT Starts, revs high then stalls.

Grrrrr, my daughter's car, 1,600 miles away is stalling right after she starts the car unless she feathers the gas pedal. She said it revs high then tries to stall.

She had a spare fuel pump relay and swapped that to no avail. What should she try next? She said she has no codes so I think it is gas related...

Normally i'd say it sounds like low fuel pressure or too much air. She'd need to pressure test the rail to know if its a pressure issue... or look for a broken vacuum line... a good sized one.

Is she 1600 miles away to the East/West or North? I ask because you mentioned gas. I am struggling with an Acura all of a sudden throwing misfires after a refueling. With the cold and snow I think there is some bad gas getting out there or water in the gas because of all the snow. This is what I think i am dealing with. If you think that could be a possibility, thow in some octance boost. you could also try dry gas but that stuff is tough on fuel lines/rubber but it will draw out water from the fuel. (I haven;t done that as yet)

In Cincy. She threw a misfire on #1 and found a loose leaking injector. I'm shipping her seals today, along with a IAC.

FYI...there are two pretty decent indy Volvo shops close by that have good reps. Nordic Motors not far from 71/275 on the north side (Blue Ash), and Tremaines Volvo Service in Moraine, on the south edge of Dayton in case you encounter something she can't handle. Impressed if she is going to do that herself! Reminds me I have put off far too long teaching my 17 YO son basic car maintenance!

Let me know if I can help in any way too. I live outside of Dayton, but get to Cincy at least once a week. My best friend from High School is in ABQ and I have been in town a couple of times to see him in the last few years. Small world!

Thank you so much for the info and offer.

So I post a video for her to do the job:
1. Pull the injector wire connectors guard off rail.
2. Bleed pressure off rail if running within 2 hours.
3. Pull the 2 bolts from the rail. (Oh, wait... only 1 bolt. Where is the other bolt? Is this missing bolt why the injector is loose? Call dad, sub bolt, push in rail, install bolt, all is good).

Problem solved. Wow!
