s70 owners with abs light or tracs light on

attention all s70 owners with abs light or tracs light on. this problem is not necessarily your abs module that is bad. it could also be your wheel speed sensors or the cables. have them checked out before you go and buy an abs module!!! this will save you time and money!!!!

I have this problem and the speedometer is cutting off as i am driving. If I turn the key off and back on it resets the speedometer. I might last all day, but sometimes stops again in a few minutes. I spoke onlie with a mechanic and he posted that it would be a faulty ABS speed module.

id recommend to get the car scanned first. get the codes and see whats wrong with it then go ahead from there.

shoter_hellas: While you're correct, the ABS light could be ON for any fault within the ABS system, the ABS modules of this vintage have a very prevalent problem with connector solder joints breaking on the ABS module main circuit board. There are many threads around here and on other volvo forums covering this issue ad nauseum. Can be fixed by DIYer quite easily too; i.e. would recommend either you rebuild it (almost free) or have it rebuilt by someone who does it professionally (about $100) rather than buying a new module from the dealer.

These broken solder joint symptoms usually manifest in the ABS light intermittently coming ON and then going OFF. I have heard they can affect speedo operation too.
