S70 tire info
Hello volvo fans,
I'VE been wondering if i could raise the volvo up a few inches by upping tire size. would it be a trade-off of anything? if so, what would be a good choice ?
Thank You!

You want it to look like a bicycle?
In order to raise it up via the tires, you have to get larger diameter tires. You will have a speedometer issue and well as a shifting issue. With larger diameter tires you will *appear* to be going slower than your actual speed. In other words, if the speedo says you are doing 50 you will be doing 55 - depending on on large you go, it could be more. That means your transmission will shift later than it wants to for trhe speed you are going. You also have to look at the wheel width. There is a limit to how much sidewall a manufacturer will provide on a vehicle. the sidewall is the weakest point of the tire.
If you are dead set on it, go to a site like tirerack. com and look for a tires specification. Tires are designated by thread width, aspect ration and rim size. Interestingly, the rim size is always in Inches (in the US at least). 255x65xR15 is a tire 255 mm wide, 255*.65 tall (mm distance from rim to thread), radial tire with a 15" rim.
