Default So I got my self a Volvo

My Jeep literally started falling apart the lase month or so. Started with the driveshaft falling out, them the window, then the vent window. wipers quit working, throttle cable broke, exhaust leak at manifold finally reared it ugly head, it has been something new every day I drive it. It had actually become quite dangerous because I got 1/4 play in my track bar, and broken control arm bushings in it.

So at 245k estimated miles (Odo. don't work) and 65k miles over 2.5 years, I think it is time for something else.

Got my self a low miles, prestine 2000 S70 GLT SE. It has a little bit ov a banged up bumper, but new bumper cover will fix all that. It needs the flame trap replaced and it had been sitting 1.5 years or so.

Upon my test drive yesterday the oil light came on going down the highway, pulled over checked it. Full. I had NO FUNNY NOISES. I am just assuming something got stuck to the screen in the oil pan and a oil change should resolve that issue no problem. OR it could be the damn o-rings (do those a lot on these engines)

The car has only 1 owner (I am sure he is loosing it he called me 4 hours later after I first talked to him appoligizing that he for got to call me back.)

The car also has only 127k miles.

I am going to enjoy air conditioning for a change. My Jeep is a a/c delete.

ha funny jks.

Pics come tomorrow. Got insured yesterday, loan, and title and registration today.

Had oil light on when I test drove it on Wendesday. Changed the oil before I took it home no light.

It had been sitting for 2.5 years. Flame trap is clogged, oil was nasty. Going to do the flame trap monday and change the oil again. Going to drive a couple hundred miles over the weekend just to get the new oil to clean everything well.

Check engine light came on coming back from Target today. Cruise 55 mph. Don't have my Autologic computer with me to investigate, but i'm sure its related to the flame trap.

I have the dipstick pulled out 1/8 inch or so to prevent blowing my seals.

drive back to the shop today just to check that CEL. The auto logic reads a PO422. 3 way cat. This is 100% directly in relation to the flame trap system being clogged. No biggie exactly what I thought it was.

Dang, don't hear that often. Most do good to get 400. The light usually comes on with 3 gallons left in the tank, 2 usable, 1 not. Does the car have the trip computer?

yeah average mileage is hovering around 34 MPG, thats average. Real time @ 70 MPH is 40-42 MPG. I don't trust computers though I go miles/gallons at the tank.

I drive highway 90% of the time. I do not use cruise, unless I am the only one on the road. I do speed limit or slower. If a car in front of me is doing 68 I go 68 instead of passing.

I be filling up today im sure of it.

Wow, something is wrong with that car. If you figure it out let me know. I'll break mine in the same way.

flame trap is clogged on it, running around with the dipstick out a tad to keep from blowing any seals.

Clogged flame traps cause poor gas mileage, dip stick out is throwing codes for 3 way cat, but it also makes the engine breath better.

I run 100% ethanol free gas as well. Costs more (like a whole 3.50 a tank full) but I get 30% better MPG.

I live in the Little Rock area and they had one a few miles from me. When I went there a few weeks ago, they said they no longer carried it. So I looked for the KingsStop place and there is a bank at that location. Not a gas station with a mile or two. The other one on Arch Street is to far away (like 20 miles) I'm not going to go that far out of the way for gas.

Thanks for the link though. I'll keep looking until I find one. I'm a little nervous to get gas from Joe's Grocery with a rotary pump still there. I guess it's stafe but it scares the crap out of me.

Well, I drove back to Little Rock from Albuquerque and found 2 stations on the way that sold Eth free gas. I did not get better mileage with the stuff but it sure is more expensive. I paid $3.92 at Albuquerque for Super, $4.20 in Amarillo TX and $4.26 in Sallisaw OK. Driving between 75 and 79 I got 25 mpg. I'll see what happens around town.

yea all engines are different, even among same years makes and models. My dad's Subi runs better off 10% blend and gets better gas mileage only about 1 MPG per tank, but noticeable.

I have noticed this S70 runs better in cooler temps. Its been getting up around 80 in the afternoon around here. In the mornings it about 40 degrees.
