Squeaking from wood dash around climate\radio
Hi all,
I've read many a post about the infamous dash squeak/rattle...but I'm fairly certain mine is different...it seems to change with humidity/temperature and if I put my hand firmly (and press) on the climate control center/wood dash around it, I can get the sound to stop. How do I go about removing the piece in question to take a look and possibly fix? I do need a new wood dash center anyway (around radio/climate) as there are chips/cracks in it.

With the car sitting I'm able to push on the climate control lightly and get massive squeak. I watched the videos of said dash mount tabs broken...mine sounds very different. Not saying you aren't probably right, but I'd like to try the easier stuff first if possible. The climate control unit comes out by pushing it out from behind, right?

Is it ECC or MCC? ECC units push out from behind. MCC units have a screw behind the *****.
You can pull the climate control unit and the radio. A guy told me that the x70 cars have screws behind that molding and those trim pieces can be replaced. Maybe you can reach the screws with those controls pulled. Post your results, squeeking sucks.
