Default SRS warning light and no horn

I just completed a dash repair on my 98 S70. Unfortunately, while I was waiting for my father-in-law to bring me some stuff I decided to also work on the master window switch. To test my handy work I reconnected the battery while both air bags were laying in my shop floor. Now my horn won't work and the SRS light won't go off. My cheap code reader doesn't read SRS codes. Can any independent mechanic with a "good" code reader reset the light? And what about the horn? Anybody got any clues?

Did you lock the contact reel before removing the steering wheel? If so did you tighten the R/S of the screws for the air bag first?
A shop with a GOOD reader should be able to read and clear the SRS.

I found the horn problem... left a wire unplugged (duh!). As for SRS, yes I tightened the right side first. I also removed the wheel again and inspected the Contact reel. Its a little brittle at the mount holes but otherwise looks okay. I gently reinstalled it and the wheel and air bag. Everything looks good, just cant get the SRS warning light to go out. Is it because I connected the battery while the airbags were disconnected?

Thanks for your help. I used your post as my instructions for the dash repair. That part of todays work went very smooth. Now all I have to do is find someone in rural west tennessee with a code reader. Once again thanks and God bless.

Yuk!!! The SRS light in our S70 came on today. The manual says that I need to get it to the stealer to have them check the system because something is wrong.

Anyone had any experience with this problem and the cost to get it fixed???
