Default stereo replacement

I have been thinking it might be nice to have the ability to play mp3s and such from my stereo but haven't given it much thought because of the cavernous opening for the stock stereo.
Just recently I started thinking that one of those dvd player / mp3 / satnav systems might work in there. does anyone have any recommendations or specific dimensions that I should be looking for?

I seen a nice unit in one of the project cars on SwedeSpeed.com. It was in the black T-5R.

The space is pretty close to a Double Din, there are various posts around but the gist seems to be that most can be made to fit with some work. Might have a bit of space around the edges but not much and the side rails have given some people trouble.
Alpine makes some super units that will do just about anything you want (Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. ). They make the Acura units and are very nice.
Kenwood also has nice units as well, but I haven't used any of theirs.

Here is mine. Pioneer Avid-301BT

BT, nav, Ipod, CD, AM/FM. No DVD. I had to modify the inside of the opening just a little and I used a mounting kit from Ebay for an F150. It also had to be modified. I think it looks great in there. I tried a single DIN mounting kit. It worked but I did not like it.
