temperature light turns on in error
Hi there,
Just bought a '99 S70 AWD last week, and am having a small problem. After a short drive, the temp light comes on but the fluid levels and temp gauge are normal. I am hoping it's a simple fix as I am headed out for a 2500 mile trip soon.
Thanks!

If the fluid levels are definitely correct (check coolant level when the engine is completely cool) then you could have a bad or stuck coolant level sensor. This sensor is located in the bottom of the coolant reservoir. If there's enough coolant, disconnect the sensor and see if the light stays off. If so, the sensor is bad or stuck. IF that is in fact the problem, then there's no urgent repair needed, however, if something were to happen that caused coolant loss, then you wouldn't know it, so you should repair this ASAP. If that isn't the problem, then you need to check further before taking the trip.
