Default Trunk lift installation

Getting the struts was easy, but now I'm having trouble getting the small end to clip onto the bar. Does anyone have advice on how to get it to clip on? Is it easier to do from the back seat or from the trunk side? Should I clip the ball end on first?

The key is to remove the far left and right parts of the seat that don't fold down. A quick tug from the top is enough to pop off the top. Then, just lift it off the bottom hook. Then there's enough room to put your whole hand in there and feel the hook. I recommend putting something in the hole to help you pull down on the hook to get it to latch. I used a small folded up leatherman tool.
