VIN code interpretation can be found on Volvo Cars US. This is for the 1999 models. If the engine type has a 'T' it is turbo.

if you have to go to the car to write down the VIN #, you might aswell just pop the hood and look for the sticker on the underside that has the Engine #, like Bill said, if it ends with a T then its a Turbo.

You said you have an 1999 s70 correct?

Does your engine bay look like this?

Do you see my Polished Upper Intercooler Pipe with the BOV on it? If you have that pipe your turboed. Yours wont look like mine though, yours will be painted black and of course you wont have the BOV.
