Default Turn Signal Issues

Hello all,

I have a 2000 S70 that is having an issue with the turn signals that I have never encountered before. When the car is in park or neutral the turn signals work just fine, but when I shift into drive they stop working. All other lights (headlights, brake lights and hazards) function normally. Any help would be great. Thanks

Bizarre.........never heard of this issue before. Looking at the wiring diagram, I see no correlation between the turn signals and the trans shifter. How do they act in Reverse??

Try turning the key to the on (but not start position) and see how they react with the shifter in Park, Reverse, Drive with the motor NOT running.....

I'm leaning toward a bad ignition switch or Neutral safety switch causing the issue. With the ignition in the ON position , turn on the blinkers and wiggle the key quite a bit in the ignition and see if that gets them working.

Ok, I dug out my wiring diagram and the only thing in the transmission circuit I could see that would remotely affect the turn signals is the transmission computer, module. It is in a square black box in the front of the engine compartment on the left side in front of the coolant overflow bottle. if you pull the cover off you will see the transmission control module along with the engine control module. Pull out both modules (with the key OFF) and look for bent or broken contact pins. Then reseat the modules and see if that helps. If not pull the transmission module out again and try the signals with the module out.
