Default what is this?

on my 2000 S70 turbo there is a black box in the engine compartment on the passenger side sitting next to the fender, between the power steering reservoir and the windshield washer reservoir, it has a plastic tube that connects behind the radiator, what is it? the plastic tube is cracked, do I need to replace it?

If you can, always fix things that are broken. You can open that box, I believe there are a couple of computers in there, like the ecu. The tube is to direct cooler air in the box. You can tape it until you replace it.

That is a cooling tube to help cool the ECU and TCU. Some people run without them and others replace them. Me I make sure I have a good one on my car.

I trimmed both sides back to thicker, sold plastic (basically remove the ridged part) and found some flexible, ridged plastic tubind at Ace Hardware. Nice, tight fit, a couple of bucks, and it is more flexible than the original piece. It is white however. I feel better knowing those expensive little parts are being kept cool.

Found one, found a volvo mechanic, that is all he does, Found one in his junk yard and also a cover for the main fuse box, one of the tabs was broken off, both for $15. I had to modify the tube, the one I got with the car had a clamp for the coolant hose and the one from the junk yard did not, so I just drilled a hole and transferred the clamp to the new one, works great
