Default What may I ask is this?

I just bought a 1998 Volvo S70 T5 and was looking at all the usual stuff I might have to replace. What is this box that I outlined in red.

Thanks,
Zeff

That is where the ECU and TCU are located.

ECU = Engine Control Unit

TCU = Transmission Contol Unit

If your s70T5 is a manual you wont have a TCU. However if your car is an automatic you will have a TCU.

Exactly! That pipe is bringing in air to cool the ECU and TCU.

Thanks again for the quick response!

I had an Audi A4 1.8T before this and had to get rid of it because it was an Manual. My wife doesn't want to learn to drive a stick and is 8 months pregnant, so I traded it in. I was about to buy a Saab 93 and on a whim test drove the S70 they had on the lot. What a nice car. I loved it as soon as I drove it. It was alittle change going from the AWD to FWD. I'm not used to the Torque steer. The T5 is no slouch in the power dept thats for sure. So far I repaired my Cabin Temp sensor to get rid of the blinking lights on the ECC. I also replaced the Antenna motor. Volvo has got a new Fan.
