Can someone recommend what brand and type of oil for the following volvo's
oil change is comeing up soon. Oil changes every 5000 miles

1) 1999 V70 base 150000 miles

2) 2000 S70 base se 150000 miles

Iv'e been useing cheveron 5w-30 on both car's, no problems with both of them was wandering if i should go with 10w-30 because of mileage. Live in southern california.

I believe the owners manual recommends 10,000 mile changes. It also recommends 10w-30. If the valve stems are leaking I would use 10w-40.

I use full synthetic.

 

Southern CA can mean lots of different things; are you in mountainous area where it can get cold, or lower elevations inland where it can get very hot, or near the coast where it's mild pretty much year round?

Follow your owner's manual. Personally I use 10-30w in winter and 10-40w in summer. and i like valvoline max-life which is hybrid synthetic. I used to use Kendall racing oil exclusively but can't really find it in my area..
