Default What Were The Downsides To '99 S70's? Might Consider Trading For My '96 Platinum

I might trade my '96 Platinum Wagon (stock aside from Volans) for this '99 S70 GLT with IPD intake, cat-back exhaust, speedtuning chip - 14psi - volan wheels - tinted - eibach, bilstein, silicone hoses..... also has ipod hook ups, turbo timer and many other things.

I remember that isn't '98 the best year? What were the dowside changes to the '99 & up 70's?

Only you can decide that.
But me I would rather have a 1 of like 1200 compared to a S70 which there was a ton more make.

Maybe you can find a gray interior.

1. Keep what you have or buy a 1998 model S70.

2. 1999's have the ETM (Electronic Throttle Module), which goes bad. And has a recall out on it and a warranty on them as well.

However after experiecing bad news with an ETM on a 1999 s70 I wouldn't get one again. If for some reson you buy a 1999 s70 and it hasn't had the ETM recall done or doesn't have a warranty on it anymore your looking at a $900-$1200 fix. Pretty pricey for a throttle body if I do say so myself. Nothing beats the drive by wire throttle bodies of the 1998 models. I highly suggest you think this over and if you want an s70 go with a 1998 model not a 1999 or 2000, but a 1998.

Yeah that s70 may have some parts on it so what. Doesn't make it worth it in the long run. Buy a 1998 and mod it from the ground up.

Default What about the replaced ETM???

Ok, from what I hear the '99 & '00 models have the ETM. If the ETM has been replaced under the recall or warranty, is it still a bad choice?

Call me crazy but since we picked up the S70 GLT for my daughter last week, we are considering getting one for ourselves. I was thinking about sticking with a '98 model just to stay away from the ETM. Should I focus on a '98 model?

1998 models only. 1999 and 2000 models suck.

Yes stay 98. I just had to replace an ETM on a car that was out of the warranty and it was like $1200.00 and we are not a Dealer.
