Wheel problem 17x7.0 Offset 40
So I purchased some wheels which I was told to fit on my 1998 S70 T5.
The wheel size is 17x7.0 Offset 40. I went and purchased some 215/45 R17 tires and found out the on full lock that the tire is touching one of the one of the curved arms of the suspension. (Think its called the Tie Rod?)
I ended up remounting the old stock 15 inch wheels based purely on recommendation from the tire guys.
Just wanted to confirm it here with the pros. Is the offset totally off? Or can I do something about it? Read some posts where people are talking about gettin spacers or something?
Maybe its a newbie question but I recently bought this car and was not familiar with the measurements.

Thank you for the reply. Needless to say I was extremely dissapointed when they told if it did not fit. Was like a little kid on christmas morning when I went to the tireshop.
I spent a few hours looking around the internet for some info as well.
I found som wheel shops that sell 17x7 Offset 40 wheels for S70 but they recommend 205/xx tires. Would this make it better. I mean. Its 10 less that the 215 tires that I had mounted.
Also I would not be dangerous with normal driving since it only on absolutely full lock right?
