Default 00 s80 starter replacment: any tricks?

My 99 S80 2.9 is not turning over, clicking at the starter or otherwise. Interior lights, radio etc.. work normally but when I turn the key to start the engine, nothing. Battery is 4+ years so I had it tested first. Full charge. Parts store will test starter/solenoid for me but I need to get it off and take it in. Seems a tight fit. Any secrets? The only other thing I can think of is the starter relay.....not sure of any test for that though. Looking for any help I can so I can go into it without getting frustrated.

My bro replaced my starter on mine (I was working when he did it) so although I didn't see it happen, I know it couldn't have been too hard because if it was he would have complained a lot when I picked the car back up from him.

taking a starter motor off and having it tested is in my opinion not a good idea, the starter is off the car and when juice is shot to it , it almost always seem to work, but when you bolt it back on and try it again when the starter is under a load , guess what! the motor wont work, check your cables, make sure they are clean, look for a starter relay, just try to cross your t's and dot your I's, could be something very simple, good luck, beefheart.
