Just got the word from the dealer that the trans needs replacement. We are the orig owner and the car has 79,000 miles. The trans started slipping about 100 miles ago very some minor slipping about 100 miles ago and yesterday my wife got stuck. Now I have no forward gears. After reading about the many problems S80 owners have had I guess I should consider myself fortunate. Well the dealer said $2,500 in parts and $4200 installed. Does this sound right?

The price for the trans sounds about right.
The Labor should be about 10-12 hours. Im not sure what there labor rate is.
