Default 04" S80 hard starting

I have a 2004 S80 T6 with 225,000 miles. When the car has been sitting for several hours or overnight it starts right up. If I make several stops in a short period of time, usually by the second or third stop, the car will not start. It cranks over just fine, refuses to fire.It generally starts on the third or fourth try waiting about 5 minutes between attempts to start the car. On one occasion i could smell gasoline. The problem is getting progressively worse. A mechanic that rarely works on Volvos suggested replacing the fuel pressure regulator. Any ideas? Thanks

There was a recall of some S80's and other models that your year fall into that needed the fuel pump replaced and or related parts. Check with your local dealer if your car needs the FREE service to get the recall items fix. I went to my local dealer and they did everything for FREE.

sdl92, did you figure out what was causing the hard starts on your S80? I'm having the same problem w/ my 03 S60 T5 and can't figure out how to fix it. There are no DTCs and it's running good except for the hard starts. Can anybody in the forum chime in?
