05 S80 Wierd Problem???
Hello Al,
Just bought this beauty 120K miles. Check engine light goes on when emergency brake is applied and stays on even when car is parked and turned off.
If I just turn car off and do not put e-brake on, no check engine light??

Interestingly, I found this on another forum...
Vehicle Application: 2005 Volvo S60 2.5T 2.5L, Vin 59, USA/Canada
Customer Concern: The "Check Engine" and the "Park Brake" light come on when you pull the emergency brake up. If the key is off, only the check engine light comes on.
Tests/Procedures: 1. Check each circuit individually where they enter the Drivers Information Module (DIM).
2. Terminal 6 (Yellow/Red wire) goes to the switch at the parking brake handle (under center console). This wire will be grounded when the handle is pulled up to turn the light on.
3. Terminal 2 (Gray wire) goes to the Engine Control Module (ECM) which will ground out this wire to illuminate the check engine light. The ECM will only ground out this wire key on.
4. If all signals are good, there is a problem in the DIM. If the DIM is replaced, programming will be necessary.
Potential Causes: Dash Wiring
