Default 07 S80 Coolant leak

Hello folks. I have a 2007 S80 3.2 thats been leaking coolant. Started off pretty slow at first, couldnt even tell where it came from. Today i noticed white spots on the upper radiator hose where it connects to the radiator. Looked around a little more and looks like its been spraying either from that connection or somewhere under it because there were more white spots in that general area below the radiator/hose connection. I filled her with coolant, drove around til she warmed up and pulled over to take a look and of course i see some liquid on the ground, skid plate, and the bottom edge of the radiator. Over the course of a day it will go from the Max line to about half an inch below Min. Seems to be coming from the previously mentioned connection. Any ideas? Is it the hose or the radiator? Maybe something else? Volvo wants almost $200 just to pressure test and i cant afford that. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks guys.

So i was having the same issues, turned out i needed a new radiator. Started off as a slow leak and got worse over about a week. $1100 later problem fixed.(went to dealer so i got raped) prolly could get it done @ a volvo specialist for alot cheaper.. I have also read that when the radiator leaks sometimes it can get coolant in the transmission and then you are **** outta luck.. These cars are expensive to maintain.. goodluck bro

Were you able to see where the leak was at all or were you just losing coolant? I really hope it's not the radiator. I definitely can't afford a 1000 dollar repair. I'll probably end up trying my luck myself if it is the case. I've found radiators from 1-200 dollars. It's only got about 120k on it but the people my mother bought it from never told her it was wrecked. Seems to have been rear ended as the rear bumper doesn't match and the front has a small Crack around the grill insert. I just cleaned the engine bay so I can see the path the leak takes. Hopefully I'll have more info after she goes to work and back tomorrow.

Mine has 266,000km leaking near the passenger side it appears. After sitting a while it comes off that side of the radiator.
So either my hose, or rad. Maybe simple thing like a old style clamp. Your supposed to have those band clamps now on the rad hoses as standard I believe.

Had it pressure tested this morning and it was the plastic part on the side of the radiator that had a small Crack in it I left it at the shop and they're waiting to get the radiator in. He said 3 or 4 hours to fix it after the part comes so hopefully I'll have her back tonight.

Ok so when that piece breaks its a replacement. Good to know, I'm already pulling the alternator off on my car. May as well grab a radiator while I have it apart. Thanks for letting me know

I assume mines in the same boat, Its a very slow leak, drips down so close to the rad that it comes off it at the bottom. This probably saved me some time and hassle.

Yea it's kinda safe to assume that. Since I'm in Houston I have a pretty reasonable Mechanic. Brand new radiator cost me 250 installed. Wouldve been cheaper if he had the plastic piece itself I just couldn't wait for it to come from California. But yea....my leak was coming from passenger side of radiator where the plastic is, ran down and dripped off the bottom and sometimes the skid plate. Seems similar to me. Good luck man. These volvos are awesome care just a pita when something goes wrong.

Mine being an 07 the hose clamps are actually a part of the hose. They just kinda lift up/slide down and snap on.

Volvo just finds more and more ways to suck money from us eh. Clamps in hoses, wonder what's next. Wonder what they charge for their "special hose".
Doing that is seriously not necessarily of them.

Also it's typically older cars with spring force clamps that should be replaced. Like my 2001 chevy had them, I never did look to much at my 1999 S80 yet.
Will find out when I fix the rad leak.
