1999 S80 ABS removal problem
Tech...or anyone!!
OK I opened the hood of the car and that went just fine. I released the latches on the air cleaner assembly and it still will not come off. The latches were on the side facing the frnt of the car and the side facing the engine. When released, the top of the cleaner opens where the latches were but it is still stuck along the long side facing the rear of the car. There are no latches however it looks like there are three areas where there are prongs but I pulled somewhat hard and it did not release. Also, when I do ge tthe top off, does the whole assembly just pull off to get it out of the way?

If all else fails pull it all out as one. Once the lower section comes out you will see that it is only held in by 3 clips that the box goes down onto.
Disconnect the hose off the air box if you want before you remove the rest.

I have the top off and it is being held on by the hose which has a strap around it. I loosened the strap but it is really stuck on..is this also just a case of really pulling hard? The top spins back and forth just will not pull off from the hose
Ok have the whole air assembly off and I only broke two of the three clips that hold the top cover on. I will see how it fits back with only the one clip later. I released the large connector cover ands it tilted upward...is that all for that connector? Sorry for the repeated questions.
Did the plug slide off after folding it up?
Once the lid for the big plug is folded up the whole plug should come off the ABS module.
Then remove the small pump motor plug. Then the 4 screws and it will come off.

It looks like it just tilts upward from the side of the release clip and I didnt want to force it. (Is it a problem that I broke to of the clips on the top cober?)
For the Air box?
If you can get the one to hold good then you should be fine.
For the ABS plug cover fold it up till it stops then pull the plug off the module.
When you fold the cover up it releases the plug. But the cover has to fold up all the way.
On the 99 it should fold up all the way. But if it has the newer style fuse box you will have to loosen that to get the plug loose.

It fold up but the hits the fuse box. Is the blue peice under the large cover the plug that has to be pulled out of the mdule? I already released the small two wire plug next to it
Yes that is what needs to come out. The entire plug with the fold part will come off with it as well.
If you have the older style fuse box you can pull up some on the fuse box and work the plug out.
But if you have the new style then you need to remove the fuse panel to get the plug loose.

Ok I was able to lift the fuse box a bit and the black cover tilted all the way up exposing the wires going into the blue :thing" with the cover all the way up am I disconected? Or do I have to pull the whole blue unit with all the wires going into it off the module?
You have to pull it all off the module.
It will pull like straight up off the module.
Then you will be able to unscrew the module and remove it.
Sorry I wish I had pics to help guide you.
