just bought a 1999 S80 yesterday for my wife. radio does not play anything. it comes on and i can switch from AM / FM, cassette, CD, radio stations. it appears that the unit would work but there is no music, sound, or even static from speakers. can anyone help with this? The unit is an HU-611.

 

Inspect the Amp under the passenger side seat.
If it had gotten wet at one time it may have shorted out.(Common problem)

 

Just checked under passenger seat and cannot find an AMP. Any other possibilities? Removed radio and insuredbothconnectors and antennaeare plugged in.

 

If there was no amp under the seat then I would say radio might be bad.
But if you decide to install aftermarket you need to have the Dealer download software in the car to remove the OEM radio as a module.
