Default 1999 s80 Sunroof won't close

Is there a way to manually shut the sunroof in the 1999 Volvo s80?

I removed the light cover and panel above the rear view mirror, and I can see the motor, but no area to crank...

Do I need to remove the motor to be able to close the sun roof manually?
Or how should I do this?

P.S. The motor and switch are bad... so manually is the only option at this point.

Are you getting an "Alarm System Service Required" message?

No alarm system message, I have been digging around on the internet... I tried the key in the door three times trick... no go. I think its just a bad motor... I was in hopes of a manual closing option, but my research is turning up with no results...

I have read a few things about older models that had an area to manually crank it shut, but I am not reading anything about this year and model.

I removed the light panel and was able to see the motor, but nothing more.

I took it by the garage I go to and they quoted me between $580 - $600 to repair the sunroof... its cheaper than I was expecting... but to replace a motor and switch, they said it would take 3 hours... does that seem accurate?

I would be very surprised if it really takes that long.

i dont know if this helps or not, but the volvo dealer i took my 99 s80 to told me that my security system was no good and one of the things it will do is lock up the sunroof to where it wont close or open if the system decides to malfunction. may not be your cars issue, but it may be worth a shot looking at the security system too...just in case its not the motor. my dealer quoted me about 600 bucks for the security system to be fixed. so far not a problem for me, but im sure it will be. this car hasnt been anything but a problem.

I am starting to see that about this one, fortunately its all stuff I don't need... The engine is sound, but windows, sun roof, etc are a problem

I had a problem with my sunroof not closing to the proper position. It would think it was closed but still slightly open. The dealer apparently got the computer to 're-learn' it's open closed positions. Cost was .5hrs shop rate.
