Default 1999 S80 Windshield Change...

Hi. I need to change the windshield and need some instructions.

What is the best way of going about it?

Thanks.

Sorry to say I would leave it to a glass place to swap it out.

Why is that?

It can't be that hard.

Your windscreen/windshield is one of the most important safety devices in your vehicle. There are many things that can go wrong when one is improperly installed, from water leaking, failure to maintain itself in the frame (ie. at speed or in an accident) and cracking if not set in just right (I've had windscreens replaced in other cars before and even professionals can make a mistake and crack a perfectly good windshield).

Honestly, like Tech said, this is one you leave to professionals unless you have experience.

Thanks for the heads-up on the windshield..

To tell you the truth, the one that I have in now is cracked. The one that I am replacing it with is and OEM S80 windshield, which ran me $50. So even if I do fuc* it up, it's only $50.

I don't mind paying $300 for a windshield change, but at the same time I don't mind expanding my knowledge of the car.

They can be a pain to do at times. The worse is getting the old one out and cleaning the old sealer. Then you need to make sure you have the right stuff to seal it in. I have seen cars that the windshield was loose because if the glue used. If they had slammed on the brakes hard the windshield would have flown down the street after they stopped.

first question is, 50 bucks for a volvo windshield? is it used? second question is have you ever cut out and replaced a front or rear glass on a car?
