2000 S80 T6 ecu volvo motor sports ecu update
just got my ecu back from volvo motor sports. they did an ecu update.. all i can say is WOW.. over 300 bhp and around 350 lbs of torque.. this baby will get up and move.. 18 to 19 psi of boost.. and for a very reasonable 450.00... from 60 to 110 is just a shove in the back.. amazing pickup and still very civilized manner.. im going to the track this weekend, ill get some etas on the 1/4 mile.. does anyone know what the stock t6 will do in the 1/4? any info would be appreciated...
yes.. that is correct.. volvo motor sports did an upgrade with upsolute and did a vms upgrade on my ecu, not just an upsolute tune. they worked together to develope the software for the upgrade. it is a little more powerful than just the upsolute upgrade..
okay.. well so far my business experience has been wonderful working with them, ive had no misdealings or false info from them. and the dramatic positive affect their upgrade has on my car really has impressed me. i guess ill keep your advice in mind but until they do me wrong i will continue doing business with them. do you have an example of how you were wronged or do you just want me to go on a hunch? so far im batting 2 for 2 with them, and their tech support has been amazing. ive grown from an experienced technician that knows little or nothing about turbo vehicles to one that pretty much understands all the aspects of a turboed engine and the theory and process with how one works with OBD 11 ecu systems. again, im not doubting what you say, but until i see what you speak of effect my opinion of them, i will continue to trust them. and if it happens lets hope i didnt spend too much money to find that out..lol..
ok.. wasnt able to go to the track due to a festival type thing going on there.. i would have been able to run but there are so many people there that i would have been crowded and a few runs is all that i would have been able to do. so me and a few buddies hit a very light traffic area on the interstate and did some 70mph to 110mph pulls. one car is a 2003 subaru wrx with a modded exhaust, cold air intake and 15 psi of boost (up from stock 13.5psi). the other car is an 1986 crx with a 205bhp jdm type r engine, putting down 187 bhp at the wheels. and the car weighed less than 2000lbs. the subaru pulls regular 13.7s and the crx has pulled 13.9s and 14s. and WOW.. first couple of runs and i left both the cars. i beat the subie by three or four car lengths and the crx by 1 length. the next few runs was just me and the subie and i pulled him both times by about one car length. it was 92 degrees, and so as the night went on, i continued to get slower and slower. by the end of the night, the crx would get me by about a car, and on the last two runs the subie go me by a half a car and one car length, respectively. we all agreed at the end of the night the heat had gotten to the volvo, and it held its own for a 4100lbs family cruiser. i am now going to install an external trans cooler, look for a larger intercooler and find some test pipes to install in place of the catalysts during runs. im also going to try to run them again on a cooler night...lol... but as far as i am concerned, the ecu upgrade was well worth it.. and im pretty sure when i do get to run some 1/4 mile eta's, we are probably going to see high 13 low 14 numbers.. SWEET!!!!

2. They don't know crap. They have a top pipe with BOV for 1998-2003 70 series models. However the piping over the engine for the turbo is different from 1998-1999. You would think they would know this, but they don't.

okay.. i read it all, until they start getting into the inside jokes and such. and it is sad that vms has that type of name for itself. i still have had nothing but a good experience dealing and talking to terry. sometimes people try to expand their business before they are big enough to and bite off more than they can chew. seems to be the case here. who knows, maybe theyve had a major change with everything. but my experience was nothing less than perfect. i sent my ecu off monday morning. i had it back thursday, along with a polyurethane engine mount. i was ready to roll on the weekend. and again, everytime i call terry to discuss options on my car, he spends more than the expected time on the phone with me. it seems as though hes not all about the money. i know if i was a specialist on the phone with a customer as long as he is with me id start asking for credit card numbers after i say hi..lol.... but again there is obvious truth with what you say and i appreciate your concern and reply. lets hope that vms corrected their problems and is on the upswing. and again, i will continue to do business with vms and terry until i am dissatisfied with the product.
Glad yuo had good business with them, but I will never do business with them and I wont recommend them to anyone either. I will deter people from doing business with them if possible.
