I recently purchased a 2000 Volvo S80 and my "Engine Service System Required" text came on. I checked all fluids and realized my transmission fluid is almost NO-EXISTENT. I am not an expert on cars, by ANY means. I do know that I do not want my transmission to lock up because i do not have the money to fix such a problem. I was laid off my job and i need to know if i can add just any transmission fluid just until i can afford to get it into the shop for a flush. Right now i have regular old "Pride ATF Type A" transmission fluid. Just the closest and cheapest I could find. I need to put something in it. I know i don't know anything about Volvo's so please don't make fun. I'm really doing the best I can. Thanks for ANY help at all.
