Hello, with my 2001 S80, in the front part of the car (above the radio) there is a creeking noise that occurs ever so often. Whenever I take it to the dealer, the noise goes away. This is very irritating. Its kind of like the sound of an old door opening and closing real fast. Like a WEEECHU, creeking noise. This has been going on for over a year now. Has anybody got any idea whats going on????

 

Does it sound like it is from inside the dash or from under the hood traveling inside the car?

 

The noise seems like it is coming from under the speaker just under the windshield in the wayy front of the car. The noise sounds like it is coming from the inside.

 

Have you tried removing the center speaker and looking inside there?There is a dash mount screw under the speaker.

 

Errrr, im not necesarily an expert at volvo mantinence. So maybe you can leave somewhat detailed instructions on how to get under there. Just in a few sentences, nothing major.

 

The speaker should just snap in so it will just pop out using a screwdriver.Then you should see the screw going from one side to the other.It should be pretty easy to find once the cover is off.

Just to clarify, the center speaker grill just pops off (from the top)? Is there a particular side that you should attempt to pry on with the screwdriver?

I have only had my car for a few months and I think I might have just put on maybe 300 miles in the 3 to 4 months I have had it. I think I heard this noise today on it when hitting certain road conditions...happened maybe 2 or 3 times. I had replaced a control arm bushing on the drivers side yesterday so I was listening for noise when I heard this.I was actually looking in the speaker direction hoping to heard it again so I think that will be my staring point to try and find it.Thanks!!
