Default 2001 S80 T6 Throttle issues

I have a 2001 volvo S80 T6. When driving the throttle will suddenly become non responsive. You push the pedal and nothing. Then suddenly it will work again last few days it has worked fine. Now on my way to look at a house nothing and wouldn't take off from the light very fast. Then all the sudden it just started working again drove there and home no problem. I just today replaced the MAF sensor with a new Bosch one. No stored codes and no lights. I did about 2 weeks ago have a code P1238 that I cleared. I did a lot of searching and it seemed that this could possibly be a bad MAF from the symptoms I have been having. Could it be the turbo control valve? Or is it time to buy a new ETM? It seems to be very intermittent and seems worse on warmer days. Thanks for any help.

Shuting the car off and restarting it does not change the problem when it is acting up. The ETM was cleaned about 3 months ago as I had a problem with the car surging at idle. Just called Volvo and ETM was flashed but not replaced at 42,000 in 2006 I now have 147,000

Fireman, This link might help you
Engine Tune and Performance

But before reading the page do the following things, because as per your given symptom "Warmer days" is quit a good suspect to diagnose.

1. Check your PVC if your car is non turbo, even clean few months before oil gases can go back to T type hose from where it goes to your ETM Air hose, therefore it might be a time to clean ETM Again, along PCV Oil trap check.

2. You have not mentioned either it stopped the engine or just does not response while engine is still running, have close look on the electric cables.

3. I am kind a sure it mostly happens when you use the AC ON. Try turning it off.

Send the video if possible, when there is no code might, there might be a small problem to fix.

cheers!

I own a 2000 S80 T6 with 165K miles. My issue was non-responsiveness, significant hesitation, etc. No engine codes either. For $40, I got an ETM from a 2002 2.9 non-turbo and installed it myself. No ECU flash. Works like new!

Agreed with murphy but replacement is not always the solution when car has low mileage plus diagnose is must in order to reduce the maintenance cost on the long run.

You are lucky got in 40 bucks, whereas in my area used one cost up to 200 USD.
