2001 Volvo S80 Wheel Bearing Problem

I keep getting this winding noise on and off from the front when driving. The mechanic took a look and even listened with a stethoscope and said it is the Right wheel bearing. However, it seems that I keep hearing this noise from the Left when driving.

I tried to test it and see which bearing it is by going into hard turns, thereby having the car weight shift to a particular side, according to the direction in which I am turning. For instance, if I make a left turn, most of the car weight is applied to the right side exerting more pressure on the bearings on that side, and vice versa.

So after trying all of this, I seem to hear a louder noise when making right turns (which should typically indicate that the left bearing is no good) instead of what I should be hearing if the mechanic is indeed correct.

I am really lost. Does anybody have any idea how else to check which bearing it is?

Does the noise wind down when you slow your acceleration?

Same issue different year? 2001 Volvo S80 Wheel Bearing Problem
Did this noise come on suddenly? I just purchased an '02 on Friday and had the same noise pop-up at lunch today, but the noise seems to go away when turning. It's also not making the noise when accelerating, just when costing and slows as the vehicle slows.

I took it into the dealer and it turns out the warranty had expired, so I'm not covered and they said my VIN was covered by the ETS which I think is also an issue.

I'm stuck in a rock and hard place right now, so I'll going back to the dealer that I purchased it from "with warranty" and try to force them to make or pay for the repairs.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Marc

There's a possibility it might be tire noise. Does the noise come and go according to road sutface type? I thought my bearings were shot, but on changing tire brand the noise just vanished!

What brand/type of tires did you use? I'm having the same issue. Noise depends on road surface. I'm needing tires soon.
