2002 s80 t6 water pump extraction
To Whom It May Consern;
You've read the books, you've watched the videos, you've done the hard work to unbolt the water pump in your Volvo, but damn, you can not extract the *******,******,***** from the car. If you have gotten this far, I know you have taken out the coolant res, and the power steering res. Forward of those items is the computer box. Take the top off, be kind to the plastic clips. Now you see two computers, silver rectangles, treat them gently, LEAVE THEM IN PLACE. The plastic box has more clips on the bottom, be gentle, free up the clips and the "box" lifts up. At the aft end you will see a tube/hose, well when you lift it up you will see that it is actually a cooling fan for the computers. How cool is that? Under that tube/cooling fan you will see the head of a bolt that secures the bottom of that entire plastic assembly to the top of the wheel housing, if you have the car up on jack stands and the plastic splash guard out, you can see the bottom of the bolt. Spray it with penetrating oil. Be patient, take that bolt out (rusty as hell), then you can move the plastic computer mounting assembly away by about a half an inch which will allow you to remove your old water pump and bring in the new one.
